Chalong temple or Chai tararam temple Muang district, Phuket province is the most famous temple in phuket. It houses the statue of the late highly revered monk, Luang Po Cham. E. 2419 (A.D.1876) before the government sent it's troops to subdue the rebellion. King Rama V appointed Luang Po Cham with the ecclesiastical title of phura Kru wisit wongsacharn. Beside the statue of Luang Po Cham, his other title decorations are also displayed in the temple e. g. his walking stick and his painting on the second floor of the kuti (residence) of the abbot, too.
